Fresher than Marc Jacobs
I recently asked ladies on twitter what scent they love on a
man. I was pleasantly surprised that the obvious choices weren't frequently
mentioned despite being the best sellers.
I was surprised that Marc Jacobs didn't get any love.
Truth be told, as weird as this ninja is... He has a
flawless brand.
The scents from his camp are amazing. I would recommend them
more for evening functions, they are quite bold and distinguished but not the
sweeter scents that work during the day.
Like I always say, good cologne shouldn't be sprayed all day
and never spray your clothing... What a waste.
I've found that two sprays behind your ears and one on your
torso will last you and make that impression when you hugging that dime, homie.
Trust me

OMG,WTF... no BBM
I'm a promoter by profession. I used to write a weekly
'editorial' on my old website called, "The Lab" and I guess these are
now extensions of that.
I remember writing about social networks and pissing off a
few promoters in the game. Understand that this was prior to Twitter and the
phenomenon that is now BBM.
I stated that many were not promoters before social networks
and and would be in danger if these platforms were ever to die.
Please note that I respect social networks. They have been
great for Showlove, Head Honcho and are an integral part of AKA's success. In
the same breath, we are in the streets, we are in your face, we've gone on
tour, we hand out flyers, we randomly stop at a brand manager's office to say
hi and give them a cd or invite them to our event.
There is absolutely no substitution for the personal touch
and these platforms have made us forget that. Some of you don't even have each
other's numbers... Only BBM pins yet you call each other friends.
I understand the inconvenience but it is essential to note
that these are mere tools of convenience. You need to have several tools. You
have to be able to take it old school and actually communicate.
People treated BBM crashing like Hurricane Katrina and then
the purple text and the purple text requesting no more purple text. Let's all
relax... We're still here.
Sorry to all those who spent more money on airtime over the
last few days than they did in the last six months.
Sorry to all the 'friendships' that were exposed.
You'll be fine
Persol so visionary
If you're like me and are a fan of vintage, then Persol is
for you.
Think Humphrey Bogart, Steve Macqueen and Audrey Hepburn...
Google is your friend if you have no clue who they are... They are not on
twitter.
These gems are in a league of their own, honestly not the cheapest
but definitely worth it.
They can be found at Sunglass Hut.
Be a visionary
Double-breasted hustle
Now... Double-breasted has nothing to do with Nandos, KFC or
a menage tois. Double-breasted blazers are a sure fire way to make a statement
and showcase your personality.
Truth is, it's a bit of a risk because the look must be
executed perfectly in order to pull it off.
If the cut, fit, fabric and shade are not on point, then you
are doomed, buddy. The length is also crucial... It's not a coat but it's also
not a baseball jacket.
The best blazers are without a doubt at thrift stores...
Take an hour or two to go have a look, once you find one, holla at the
dry-cleaner and a tailor for alterarations.
I'll be double-breasted at the GQ Best Dressed Awards next
week... Should be fun.
They got next
I recently asked which rappers have next, who will have 2012
in a headlock? I have since seen Cashtime stand up and be counted... They have
a strong summer ahead.
As a promoter, I'm always looking for new djs. That hunger
and energy that sets the dance floor alight. Truth be told, a lot of dudes
think they can Dj but really can't. If my mother watches enough music channels,
even she can tell you what tracks to play... It's easy to bump hits.
Being technically sound is key... You must learn how to Dj,
you must pay your dues, open and close a party before you turn it up for the
main set.
I've seen cats that I thought would be major but they burn
out or get distracted. I think the next two big hip-hop djs are Dj Speedsta and
Fanatic. Both young, both have killer sets, both don't repeat sets and both
look to put in work.
After hearing their one-on-one set recently at ALS, I was
even more convinced.
Promoters... Book these ninjaz... Trust me.
