Hip-hop looking good

The Showlove Music grind took us to Durban this weekend. The good folk at Fish Eagle brought us out and really took care of us... All love to Hardy, Gabrielle and Darryl... Good connects to have.

Eagle Air is the concept we have been commissioned for and its face is Pro. There is no half stepping on this campaign; billboards, print, events, etc... Well done to Pro. Well done on showcasing that hip-hop shouldn't limit itself... Let's get out there and be the faces of international brands... Let's build.

Teargas, JR, AKA, HHP and others are all linked to large brand campaigns... This is as it should be. Let's all forget about swagger for a second and focus on the future. We need more of these deals, we need to focus on building brand equity and turning into profit.

Fact is, the rap fraternity hasn't been the most lucrative through the years but I believe that it's rap's turn to get in on the chips... But it's up to us. Other than AKA, all the acts I've mentioned above are all veterans. New cats need to respect that.

Respect the fact that these dudes put in the work. New dudes want to be backed by companies, but you need to be backed by popular demand. If there is no buzz or no hits then the companies will have no interest. The account manager probably doesn't know you... They will google you... Do you exist?

Let's take care of the basics, keep the music hot, keep the profiles up to date, be active on the Internet and in touch with fans. Staying focused will have incredible and lucrative results...

Hip-hop is looking good but we can do better.

Let's get it.
