Chivalry... Dead?

We live in a society where people are taken aback by good manners. Often I'm told that I'm sooo polite and I don't quite understand that. Saying please and thank you shouldn't be a surprise.

I have a policy of greeting. We don't have to engage in small talk, but acknowledging your presence as a human being is a sign of respect and I try by all means to respect even the disrespectful.

I believe this attitude spills over into chivalry and how you treat your lady and ladies in general.

A gentleman makes way, provides comfort and protects.

A gentleman let's her through the door first. A gentleman ensures that she is seated before she is. A gentleman gives her his seat if there is no other. A gentleman walks her to her car and to her door. A gentleman provides his jacket if she's cold... A gentleman waits.

Chivalry requires a man to be selfless where a lady is concerned. Chivalry is about treating her like a lady. Chivalry is a showcase of manners and class, it shows how attentive you are to her and how she is the object of your affection.

Supposedly chivalry has died. This simply means that young bucks have no manners. Watch what happens...

You're wondering how the waiter got your girl's number? Well he pulled out her chair while you went straight to the bathroom and didn't even check if she was seated and comfy.

You wondering why your girl has the Icon bouncers on bbm? Your clown ass was giving every ninja at the door dap while he escorted her in and told her how lovely she looks.

You're wondering why she wants to go straight home after supper? Because you went ahead and ordered the extra portion of wings and told the waiter she'll have a salad. To top it off, you only spoke about yourself. You didn't ask her about herself, you didn't listen, you don't care and now it's a lonely drive back from The Yard.

Chivalry means she can't wait to see you. She can't wait to be impressed by you and trust me when I say she will impress you too.

Being a gentleman also affects how you treat other men. A general civil rapport is in important is society and how you carry yourself is key.

Don't let chivalry die.
